With local elections in May 2011 have you considered becoming a Parish Councillor?

St Nicholas at Wade & Sarre Parish Council was recently awarded accreditation for the prestigious national award of ‘Quality Parish Council’ to become one of only 23 in Kent. Would you like to become a parish councillor on this progressive local council?

Councillors meet once a month to discuss how they can deal with matters affecting the villages and tackle issues raised by residents. The independent Parish Plan Steering Group has consulted with all residents in the parish and later this year will publish its completed Parish Plan. The Plan will contain detailed ‘action plans’ setting out the community’s aspirations, many needing support and funding from the Parish Council. At a time when central government is cutting back on public spending, the next few years will be interesting, challenging and rewarding for all parish councillors.

If you would like to help your community, interested in becoming a parish councillor and want to learn more, come along to a parish council meeting or contact Bernard Clayson the Chairman or Arthur King the Parish Clerk (contact details for both are on the parish notice boards, in the post office or here on the council’s web site).
